Ross' bit

CV

Here's something of a CV.

Who am I

I'm an IT expert with broad experience and the ability to gain depth quickly. Besides technology, I have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Most of my experience has been in an enterprise setting.

What do I do

I design and build great software, both backend and recently full-stack. I naturally lead from behind, I am vocal in standing up for my team and I prioritise wellbeing above all else.

I am interested in solving business problems by delivering quality software which whichever tools are available and appropriate.

Where I've worked in the past

This list is abbreviated, for details please see my LinkedIn profile or contact me directly.

What I've worked with

I have worked with very many systems, in production: from today's bread and butter like Linux and Kubernetes, to the now-defunct Tru64 UNIX and the much neglected Service Fabric; from a physical data centre in Glasgow to AWS and Azure; from Oracle 8i to Azure SQL Database.

I am most definitely a generalist. I aim to be technology-agnostic, since technology changes too fast to let yourself be tied down to anything except COBOL.
